FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Thousand Oaks, CA (April 14, 2009) - FreshSuccess, Inc. today announced a voluntary nationwide recall of certain pistachio products produced under the FreshSuccess, Inc., Private Label brands listed below and various Private Label brands that indicate they are packed by or distributed by FreshSuccess, Inc. that are not listed below. The Best If Used By dates are listed below. This voluntary recall was initiated because the products contain pistachios which were sourced from Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. and may possibly be contaminated with Salmonella. This possible contamination is not connected with the recent outbreak associated with peanuts and no illness has been reported.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. Products were distributed nationally in the United States.

Consumers that have the listed products may return them to our offices for a refund and may contact FreshSuccess, Inc. with questions at (866) 378-4848, Monday - Friday between 9:00AM to 5:00 PM PST.

This is the first ever recall of any products for FreshSuccess, Inc., which has been in business for over ten years. FreshSuccess, Inc is committed to quality products and consumer safety, and is taking steps aggressively to prevent the need for any future recalls of its products.
